Clayton Kershaw scratched; start pushed back to Friday

The Los Angeles Dodgers have officially scratched Clayton Kershaw from his Thursday start against the Athletics due to hip and glute soreness. Kershaw will instead go on Friday against the crosstown-rival Angels.

Mike Bolsinger will start in Kershaw’s place tonight, which isn’t such an awful thing for the Dodgers. While Bolsinger isn’t Kershaw by any means, the second-year big leaguer has enjoyed ample success in 15 starts this year, going 5-3 with a 2.79 ERA. Bolsinger is coming off a start against the Braves in which he pitched seven shutout innings while allowing just three hits and a walk, and will look to build on that success on Wednesday night as he faces an A’s lineup that is suddenly without Ben Zobrist.

With Kershaw going Friday, it sounds as though Zack Greinke will pitch Game 2 of the series against the Angels on Saturday.
