New York Yankees’ Bryan Mitchell hit in head by line drive
New York Yankees pitcher Bryan Mitchell left Monday night’s game against the Minnesota Twins after being hit in the head by a line drive off the bat of Eduardo Nunez. Mitchell was named Monday’s starter after C.C. Sabathia was pushed back to Tuesday night’s game.
Mitchell was helped off the field in the second inning, but didn’t need to be carted off which should hopefully indicate the injury isn’t as serious as it could have been. The Yankees have yet to give an update on Mitchell’s status, however.
Mitchell joins Cleveland’s Carlos Carrasco and Arizona’s Archie Bradley as pitchers who’ve taken strikes off the head in 2015, though both have fully recovered and hopefully Mitchell will do the same.
Video of the injury can be seen here.
