The Kansas City Royals are doing Missouri baseball proud as they have brought the American League, Midwestern team to be on par with the National League powerhouse St. Louis Cardinals. They sit 13.0 games in the division lead of the American League Central. This is an incredibly potent Kansas City Royal’s team that has the momentum and the drive to make a serious impact in the post season.

As if they needed it, they are going to have a friendly face returning that will bring a little added motivation to the Kansas City Royals’ side. Alex Gordon is set to return to the Royals early in the week. Essentially, the Royals do not even need him, but given that he has been with the team since he was drafted by them with the second overall pick of the 2005 MLB draft.
The rest is history.
Alex Gordon has stuck with the team through their worst days and is now reaping the rewards of his perseverance and loyalty by seeing his Kansas City Royals ascend to the top team in a jam-packed American League. No one on this team is more dedicated to the Royals and their prolonged success than Alex Gordon and he is returning to their midst for the final month of the season.
Ben Zobrist has been filling in in the Kansas City Royal’s left field and he has done just as well as you would expect from a player with as much experience as Zobrist. The Kansas City Royals were absolutely brilliant in their acquisition of Zobrist, as they knew full well that when Alex Gordon came back, he would be reclaiming his rightful spot in left field, where he has established himself as one of the top defensive left fielders in the game.
Zobrist is scheduled to take over primary second base duties for the Kansas City Royals when Gordon returns, according to the Kansas City Star, replacing Omar Infante.
Before hitting the DL, Alex Gordon was hitting .279 with 11 home runs and 39 RBIs. In the first eight games of his rehab stint, he is hitting a solid .429 with 1 home run and 5 RBIs. Looks like he is itching to get back with the senior squad and when he does, the Kansas City Royals are only going to get better.
With Ben Zobrist taking over perhaps the only weak link position on the Royals and Alex Gordon returning to the outfield, this Kansas City Royal’s side is an intimidating proposition.
