The Los Angeles Dodgers announced on Thursday that they’ve designated first baseman Andy Wilkins for assignment. The move makes room for shortstop prospect Corey Seager, who was called up by the Dodgers on Thursday as well. Seager will make his major-league debut Thursday night against San Diego.
While he didn’t see any big-league action with Los Angeles this season, Wilkins put together solid numbers at AAA, hitting .246 with 25 doubles, 16 home runs and 66 RBIs. The 26-year-old made his major league debut last year with the Blue JaysWhile it may not be in the major leagues, Wilkins should have no trouble finding work with a team looking for organizational corner infield depth.
