Harold Reynolds sets new career-high in irritated viewers during Rangers/Blue Jays call
If struggling to find a friend that has MLB Network, Fox Sports 1 or some illegal stream up wasn’t enough, those that managed to watch Thursday afternoon’s ALDS matchup between the Blue Jays and Rangers were treated to the best baseball analysis out there.
Joe DiMaggio‘s hit streak was impressive, Cal Ripken Jr.’s consecutive-games-played streak was even more so, but perhaps the most unbreakable streak in baseball history is that of MLB Network/FOX Sports commentator Harold Reynolds, who has never failed to irritate baseball fans around the globe every time he opens his mouth.
Reynolds was on hand to offer color commentary in the broadcast booth Friday alongside Kenny Albert and Tom Verducci, as will be the case throughout the Rangers/Jays series. And while David Price seemed rusty coming off 11 days’ rest, Reynolds was at his best.
Some of the Thursday highlights from the former Mariners second baseman include the following:
On shifts, specifically the Rangers playing second baseman Rougned Odor in shallow right field against a left-handed batter: “Now your second baseman has to have a middle infielder’s arm.”
Then Reynolds broadcaster-jinxed Yovani Gallardo‘s no-hitter to start the bottom of the fourth inning. While Albert and Verducci each alluded to the starter’s dominance, mentioning he had be “dominant” and “putting on a clinic,” Reynolds just had to mention “Yeah man, he’s been PERFECT so far.” The Blue Jays proceeded to get a single up to the middle to start the bottom half of the inning.
There were plenty of other gems, and fans captured the performance on Twitter:
And in case you forgot, Harold Reynolds has an Emmy.
