Once the Colorado Rockies signed outfielder Gerardo Parra to a three-year deal, it appeared Corey Dickerson’s remaining time in Denver would be short. Now, there’s speculation the team could be trying to move him in order to land some much-needed starting pitching.

More from MLB Rumors

There are a handful of teams that make sense for Dickerson, but there are three in particular that could make a strong push to land him.

Tampa Bay Rays: The Rays have an abundance of starting pitching, something the Rockies covet in any potential deal. Since Tampa Bay is a little short on quality outfielders, they figure to be interested in bringing the 26-year-old Dickerson into the fold.

Jake Odorizzi is a possible candidate to go back to Colorado because he’s not the ace that Chris Archer is, but he has shown promise that he could develop into a solid No. 2 starter in the near future. At this point, the Rockies will take all the help they can get.

St. Louis Cardinals: After a fairly quiet offseason, the Cardinals could be looking for a way to make a minor splash before spring training. They have two promising, yet unproven outfield options in Randal Grichuk and Stephen Piscotty, who at this point, will start along with veteran Matt Holliday.

In the past few years, Holliday has been extremely injury prone, which is why St. Louis could want more depth. Rotating between their current starting outfielders and Dickerson would ensure they have someone competent starting at every position at all times.

Of course, the Cardinals have plenty of young arms to send to Colorado in a potential deal, namely Marco Gonzales, a talented left hander.

Baltimore Orioles: Even though they were able to retain Chris Davis this offseason, the Orioles didn’t do enough to move up in the American League East. All along, they wanted to add an outfielder on top of Davis, but they’ve failed to do that so far. In step Dickerson.

Baltimore doesn’t have a ton of pitching depth at the major league level, but their minor league system has a fair amount of talent. They would likely have to overwhelm the Rockies with a number of mid-level pitching prospects to get a deal done.

Wherever Dickerson ends up, he will provide outfield depth. The three teams mentioned here would most benefit from adding him. Now we wait and see if he’s shipped off and where he’s sent if Colorado gets rid of him.
