The Make-A-Wish Foundation is known for making dreams come true for children fighting potentially fatal diseases. Unfortunately, a San Francisco office was robbed of items including a scooter signed by San Francisco Giants outfielder Hunter Pence.
It is always great to see the joy on the faces of those children who have their dreams come true. That is particularly the case for those children who are fighting potentially fatal diseases or conditions. With all of the struggles that they face, organizations such as Make-A-Wish, which help to get those dreams to happen, play a vital part of those kids’ lives.
Unfortunately, with the items that these organizations can have on hand due to fundraisers and charitable donations, they can also be e tempting target for thieves. That was the case on Saturday, as the San Francisco office for the Make-A-Wish Foundation was robbed by two thieves who made off with miscellaneous items such as laptops, iPads and a scooter signed by San Francisco Giants outfielder Hunter Pence.

It is understandable that those who are down on their luck and are trying to find ways to survive might take iPads and laptops with the idea of selling their ill gotten gains. But a scooter signed by Hunter Pence? That is a pretty obvious item, and would be incredibly difficult to unload. Likewise, who steals from a charity? Seriously? That is just tempting fate or karma.
This also marks the second time this scooter has been stolen, having been stolen outside of a restaurant. It was eventually returned to police, and subsequently Pence. In fact, this scooter was even donated to Make-A-Wish due to their previous efforts, particularly when they helped a five year old cancer survivor fulfill his dream of being BatKid.
These items will eventually be replaced. Pence may even find another scooter to autograph and donate again. But the idea that someone would steal from any charity, and particularly one that helps provide a bit of happiness for a seriously ill child, is detestable.

And maybe, if the police are unable to locate these two thieves, Hunter Pence and BatKid can team up to track them down and dispense some justice.
