Names to Know – Lights-Out Relievers

This will be the first of a new series I’ll be doing each week exploring MLB players who may be less publicized or lesser known that could be of importance.

Now, not all these guys will be completely under the radar as each one of these posts will have a theme to them. But even then, if I’m mentioning them in one of these pieces, it’s because even though the player is known, the publicity around them isn’t quite what I feel it should be for their talent level.

Today’s focus is on the major leagues. While fantasy baseball has put focus on closers and even “closers in waiting,” frequently, we miss out on the relievers who are coming out and putting together a tremendous season without a role as a closer.

These guys in the following pages aren’t necessarily future closers, but they are guys who are having extremely good seasons early on, and on top of that, they’re having seasons that the numbers back up as legit seasons, not circumstances of “small sample size” or inflated rates, as you’ll see as we go forward.

Pictured on this first page is Cam Bedrosian, who hasn’t pitched quite enough yet to make this group, but he’s my “honorable mention” for this category as well!
