Could the Boston Red Sox look to Atlanta to upgrade their pitching corps?

The Boston Red Sox are going to look outside their organization to upgrade their pitching corps. In their rotation, Steven Wright has been a surprise. They’ve gotten eight wins out of David Price and Rick Porcello. The rest of the rotation has left a lot to be desired.

The Sox thought their bridge to closer Craig Kimbrel was going to be Carson Smith, but Smith needed Tommy John surgery and is out. Koji Uehara hasn’t been as good as he has in the past, so the Sox are looking for reinforcements.

The Atlanta Braves have acted like the Sports Authority of baseball over the past couple of years; everything must go. It really has changed over outside of Julio Teheran and Freddie Freeman. Now with the Red Sox continuing their playoff push, and the Braves looking to add even more prospects to their talented system, could their be a match?

The Sox however may only be able to get Vizcaino.

Well, if the Red Sox are looking to get either, they certainly had to be impressed by what they saw last night with Teheran’s eight shutout innings and Vizcaino’s one shutout inning against the Mets. The Sox had former Braves’ GM Frank Wren at the game.

Next: Mets option Conforto; recall Nimmo

The Sox have the prospects to get anyone they want, including Teheran. I know the Braves don’t want to deal him, but if the Sox had a package that included Yoan Moncada and Eduardo Rodriguez, the Braves would have to think about that right?

In the end, I don’t think Teheran goes anywhere, but Vizcaino certainly has a chance. Could it be to the Red Sox? We may not  find that out for another month.
