Are the New York Yankees ready to break up No Runs DMC, and trade Aroldis Chapman at the deadline?

Last night, the New York Yankees again used their formula. They got six strong innings out of Ivan Nova (!) and then went to No Runs DMC to shut the door and that’s exactly what Dellin Betances, Andrew Miller and Aroldis Chapman did as they won their second in a row.

The Yankees are still five games out of the second wild card spot and would have to climb over five teams in order to get into the second Wild Card spot. This is why there are questions of if they will be buyers or sellers.

I’ve gone over in this space before the many reasons why they should sell, and it appears Brian Cashman are doing their due diligence in order to do so.

The rest of this homestand is going to go a long way in order to figure out which way they will go and as of this post they are 2-2 with six games left.

The thing is with Chapman, they can still deal him and compete. They can just go back to their old formula of Betances and Miller and piece together the seventh, while getting a top prospect or two to help them prepare to move forward with the other prospects that they have. So even if they don’t get in full sell mode, they can still do a mini sell off of Chapman.

We’ll know soon enough what the Yankees do and if they do sell, they could hold the key to who wins the 2016 World Series.
