In a shocking move, Milwaukee Brewers catcher Jonathan Lucroy has invoked his no-trade clause and will not go to the Cleveland Indians.

The Cleveland Indians landed Andrew Miller earlier today to fill a need in their bullpen. They also had a need at catcher as Yan Gomes, Roberto Perez and Chris Gimenez have not been productive. They thought they had a deal for Brewers catcher Jonathan Lucroy. The Indians are one of the teams on Lucroy’s no-trade list and in a surprising move, Lucroy has rejected the trade.

Lucroy has said he wants to win and the Indians have just as good a chance as anyone to win the World Series this year, especially with the addition of Miller. The Indians were going to send top prospects like Francisco Mejia and Yu-Cheng Chang to the Brewers.

Where does this leave Lucroy? Do the Mets, Rangers or other teams make a run at him now? Do the Brewers just hold him and wait to trade him in the offseason? It might be a bit awkward to have Lucroy still with the club after they had a deal for him.

For the Indians, where do they go? Do they go and add another bat? Do they try and make another deal with the Yankees for Carlos Beltran or even Brian McCann? Do they try and get Josh Reddick from the A’s?

The last 30 hours before the deadline are going to be wild and they just got more interesting now that Lucroy has decided not to go to Cleveland.
