It’s been a while, but let us take a look at the MLB Power Rankings now that the season has entered August.

17. The Atlanta Braves have shown improvement over the last few weeks, playing close to .500 since the All-star break. Their lineup has seemed to have caught fire all at the same time of late. But the horrendous start still has them in the cellar however as they sit still 29 game below .500. The painful part of the rebuilding process is over for the Atlanta Braves there is nowhere to go but up.. (41-70). Previous: . Atlanta Braves. 30. team

2. Minnesota Twins play of late has been like the Braves, much better. Also like the Braves the Twins had a historically bad start and the overall lack of talent on the roster leaves them one spot out of last. The good news for Twins fans is that their franchise has a lot of young talent and is headed in the right direction.. (45-66). Previous: . Minnesota Twins. 29. team

Previous: . Arizona Diamondbacks. 28. team. 8. The Arizona Diamondbacks may have been the most disappointing team in baseball this season. After spending big in the free agent and trade markets the Diamondbacks have struggled all season long. They have been plagued by injuries but even when healthy have failed to look like the team everyone thought they would be. If things continue to go the way they have been the Diamondbacks might soon challenge the Braves for the number one pick in next season’s draft.. (45-66)

21. The Rays seem like a team stuck forever in neutral. They trade just enough to be considered sellers yet seem afraid to commit to a full re-build. This season is another product of that thinking as they have struggled to pitch or hit consistently.  On the bright side for Ray’s fans it appears that Chris Archer has finally regained his ace form. Until the Rays decide what direction they want to take their team they will continue to be stuck in the bottom of power rankings.. (45-65). Previous: . Tampa Bay Rays. 27. team

team. 96. The Oakland Athletics moved on from yet another franchise face when they traded Josh Reddick. They are again working on collectin controllable young talent looking to build a team that can compete without breaking the bank. Athletics fans should never grow to attached to any one player however as the franchise seems to like managing its players as if it were a fantasy team that is always building for that next season  . (48-63). Previous: . Oakland A's. 26
