#5 New York Mets

The Mets are still in the postseason race.  They are not the same team that made it to the World Series last year. They have had a lot more injuries, and again struggled to mount any consistent offensive threat.

They tried to fix this at the trade deadline acquiring outfielder Jay Bruce to give their lineup some much needed power. Travis d’Arnaud is the Mets current starting catcher and has been less than impressive both with the bat and behind the plate. The Mets have a need for more offense and have a young pitching staff that is going to need a clubhouse presence and guidance in the years to come.

While a trade between the two New York clubs seems unlikely it is a trade that would make perfect sense for both sides. The Mets are trying to make a postseason push, the Yankees are just trying to rid themselves of several regrettable contracts.

Brian McCann in a New York Mets uniform may not be extremely likely but it is a trade that would benefit both sides. It is an option that the Mets at very least should explore and see if the asking price would be worth giving their team’s postseason hopes another boost.
