What is the next logical step for former Boston Red Sox pitcher turned failed video game entrepreneur and fired baseball analyst Curt Schilling? Of course it would be politics.
One has to wonder what former Boston Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling would have done with his life had he not been a baseball player. His attempts at being a businessman went south quickly, as his 38 Studios went bankrupt and left the taxpayers of Rhode Island on the hook for approximately $75 Million. His inability to keep his mouth shut and stop espousing opinions that are controversial in nature led to his dismissal from ESPN as a baseball analyst, a position he wasn’t great at anyway.
So, what is one to do when their only real asset at this point is their fame from a decade ago? Well, aside from posting conservative political views and blasting those who dare to agree with him, there really isn’t much left out there. That is, aside from politics.

Naturally, that appears to be Schilling’s next move. He stated that he plans on running for state office “soon,” with an eye towards running for President in the next four to eight years, depending on who wins the election. Given that Schilling is a staunch conservative, and a vocal supporter of Republican nominee Donald Trump, one can imagine the scenario in which he would plan on running in four more years.
There is one slight issue with Schilling’s plans to take the political scene by storm. Massachusetts is a pretty liberal state, and Schilling’s political viewpoints do not exactly mesh with the fabric of the state. Perhaps he is banking on his time with the Boston Red Sox as being a way to overcome that objection, which makes sense, since he has done nothing but bank on his former glory for the past decade.

Look out Washington DC – Curt Schilling has put you on notice! Of course, his political career may turn out just like everything else he has done after baseball, and just be another tale of failure.
