With the lack of quality arms on the free agent market, the Chicago White Sox can reload their team by putting Chris Sale and Jose Quintana on the trade market.

Rich Hill always has blister issues. Bartolo Colon is 43 years old. Andrew Cashner is average. The free agent pitching market in the off-season is weaker than your buddy taking Tony Romo as his fantasy quarterback. (Full disclosure I drafted him as my backup in two leagues. Thanks Seahawks.)

The Chicago White Sox were supposed to be good last year. It didn’t work out. They started off well this year and then the bottom fell out.

If the White Sox put Chris Sale and Jose Quintana on the trade block, they can reload their team and make it a contender.

"My guess is the plan has more than one variable to it. First and foremost, the White Sox will be the most talked-to club in the fall by the other 29 teams. Each and every one of those major league franchises will want to know what it will take to acquire pitchers Chris Sale and Jose Quintana."

Sale’s contract lasts another three years for a total of $39 million. Quintana is set to make a total of $15.8 million over the next two years with two more club options. Zack Greinke will make $31 million next year by himself.

The White Sox have some pieces. They have Carlos Rodon and Carson Fulmer as young arms. Jose Abreu took a big step back this year. Melky Cabrera is getting older. Todd Frazier is hitting free agency. Adam Eaton is a nice piece to have as well.

If I were the White Sox this off-season, I would put both out there and see what you can get. Teams like the Red Sox, Dodgers and Yankees will be fighting for their services. Get the best deal for one you can. Trade him. Keep the other one.

You can reload your franchise and set yourself up for years to come by making sure you get the right pieces. Get two top prospects. Take a look at what the Yankees did at the deadline. They got top prospects for top bullpen arms. Imagine what the White Sox could get for even one of their top starters this off-season.

Rick Hahn is going to be a very busy man this off-season. He could hold the key to the off-season for a lot of clubs, including his own. He’s in a franchise-changing position. What he will do remains to be seen.
