The New York Yankees have undergone a lot of changes in the past few months. Who are the top current New York Yankees?

The New York Yankees have gone with a youth movement with their team, cutting ties with older players in favor of creating roster room for prospects. So far this move has paid off and left the Yankees in a much better position than when the season began.  Before we begin, there are a few players worth mentioning that just didn’t quite make the cut.

C.C. Sabathia– The longtime starting pitcher is beginning to come to the end of his career. He has struggled to do much since putting on a Yankee uniform and looks to be a shell of the player he once was. Sabathia deserves a mention, however, for the player he was. Sabathia at one time was an ace and could be matched up against anyone any given night. Those days are over, but Sabathia has had a solid career despite his recent seasons.

Jacoby Ellsbury– Much like Sabathia, Ellsbury gains a mention because of his seasons with other teams. Oddly enough his best seasons all came with Yankees rivals the Boston Red Sox. In his prime, Ellsbury was a great hitter who could hit 25 bombs and steal 25+ bases. Sadly for the Yankees it appears those days are over. Ellsbury may soon become another older player the Yankees look to move on from.

Brian McCann– McCann is a great catcher but has been disappointing on offense since joining the Yankees. His best seasons were in a Braves uniform. A uniform that he could again be wearing soon.
