Los Angeles Angels: Mike Trout Unharmed After Car Crash
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout is okay after being in a car crash the other night.
The Los Angeles Angeles received some scary news the other when Mike Trout was a part of a car crash Wednesday night. According to CBS Sports, the outfielder was driving one of the four vehicles in a multicar crash on the 55 freeway. Fortunately, Mike Trout went unharmed and only two victims required medical attention at local hospitals.
According to accounts, Trout became involved when traffic on the southbound 55 tried to slow for a collision on the road ahead. Trout and two others crashed while attempting to avoid the initial accident, but they failed to avoid each other in the process. Trout’s Mercedes-Benz hit the back left side of a Chevrolet Sonic, which proceeded to spin into another car and ultimately a fence. Paramedics took the driver of the Chevy to the hospital with injuries, but these appeared to be of the non-life-threatening kind.
Additionally, CBS Los Angeles said that the former Most Valuable Player had not been charged in relation to the incident. Furthermore, the Orange County Register reported that authorities had no reason to believe that drugs or alcohol contributed to the crash. All three parties in the secondary crash cooperated with the local authorities after the accident.

Both Trout’s agent and the Angels’ General Manager Billy Eppler stated that Trout had survived unharmed during the course of events. The 25-year-old even traveled with the team to face the Seattle Mariners tonight. As things currently stand, he is not reporting concussion-like symptoms.
Certainly, this is good news for the Los Angeles Angels and Mike Trout. The righty has been among the best players in baseball since his rookie season in 2012, and this year has been no exception. Through 131 games, he has slugged 25 home runs along with 21 stolen bases, providing a valuable combination of power and speed. His on-base ability has also been excellent, as he leads the major leagues in on-base percentage.
The 2014 Most Valuable Award winner will certainly serve as a major contender for the 2016 award as well. He leads the American League in Wins Above Replacement, per FanGraphs, and it is nearly impossible to deny his talent. Whether he will win the award remains to be seen, but one can almost guarantee that he will find himself as one of the top three vote-getters.

No matter how well he may be playing, however, the Los Angeles Angels do appear to be thoroughly out of contention. Still, Trout should be one of the lone bright spots in the team’s future, and his going unharmed during the car crash is all good news.
