Although the American League lost 15-8, Kimmel sent one out of the shorted field in Minute Maid Park. Per request, Scully voiced-over an announcement of Kimmel’s centerfield home run during the show.
This is not the first time Kimmel has expressed his love for baseball through his invited guests. During the 2015 World Series, he brought Matt Harvey, Jacob deGrom, Wilmer Flores and David Wright of the New York Mets to discuss the season and the playoffs.
Kimmel has partaken in Clayton Kershaw’s Ping Pong 4 Purpose Tournament, but he also brought the Dodgers’ ace for an interview during May, 2015. Kershaw threw a non-regulation baseball at Kimmel to try and knock an apple off of the top of his head.
One year later, he tracked down the San Francisco Giants’ fan who was ejected for interfering with a fair ball. In fact, Kimmel interviewed him over webcam and asked him about the incident.
