Chicago Cubs fans, you have waited decades to take in a World Series game at the friendly confines of Wrigley Field, but there is nothing friendly about the price of admission.

Thousands of Cubs faithful will still never get to see the Chicago Cubs play in the World Series in person this week when the Cubs host games three, four, and five at Wrigley Field, because the cost of an individual ticket will break your bank. As of this morning, the cost of a Standing Room Only ticket is going for anywhere from $2,000 dollars to $2,750 dollars per ticket on StubHub.

That’s right Cubs fans, you’ve waited all of your life to experience this moment, only to find out that the price of admission is equal to double the cost of your monthly rent or mortgage in most cases. Bleacher Seat tickets are going for roughly $3,000 dollars per ticket, and if you want to take in history in the making from the Bullpen Box seats, it is going to cost you a whopping $20,000 dollars per ticket.

A seat in the dugout box section is going for, brace yourself for this one, $40,000 dollars for game three of the World Series. But wait, it gets worse, the prices climb for game four and five respectively. Standing Room Only ticket for game four currently ranging from $2,500 dollars to $3,500 dollars.

You can watch game one of the World Series at progressive field for anywhere from $750 dollars (standing room only) to $12,500 (Diamond Box) resale value.

Remember these are only resale values for the mentioned tickets, through businesses like StubHub or Seat Geek, a ticket purchased by a season ticket holder through whatever for of distribution that the team uses, would not cost anywhere near these prices.

I have not seen anything regarding the cost of the World Series tickets when purchased through the Cubs for the 2016 postseason, but Jon Greenberg wrote an article in August of last year, highlighting the prices that the Cubs were charging season ticket holders for potential World Series tickets.

The cost of the ticket(s) ranged between $175-$350 dollars per ticket, with a beloved bleacher seat going for a fairly priced $200 dollars. I would imagine the prices for this season are in the same price range, if not they can’t be too far off.

The Chicago Cubs as an organization have the right to name their price for postseason tickets, but are guided and regulated by Major League Baseball in their decision. If you’re not one of those lucky fans, you will have to fork up in some cases, an entire year’s salary for a single ticket.

Unless you’re a season ticket holder, who was selected via a random drawing to have the opportunity to purchase your ticket(s) through the organization, you pretty much have no chance at watching the game live. Why? Unfortunate but simple, people are incredibly greedy in today’s society.

That means that the eldest of Chicago Cubs fans, like your grandmother or grandfather, will likely have to settle for taking in the game that they waited their entire lives to see, on their television because so-called fans, are clamoring at the opportunity to make a mega-profit off of their luck, and the Cubs success.
