10. Luis Martinez, RHP

Birthdate: 1/29/95 (21 years old)
Level(s) Played in 2016: low A
Stats in 2016: 137 innings, 3.81 ERA, 1.29 WHIP, 8.75 BB%, 24.19 K%

Martinez is a guy who has struggled to put things together since being signed out of Venezuela in 2011. He’s got a long, lean build that many compared to former Dodger Ramon Martinez (no relaono, if maybe even a little bit light).

He’s 6’6 and listed at 190 pounds, with that weight probably spot on. Martinez went through Tommy John surgery, and it has slowed his path to the big leagues, leaving him likely to move to high-A as a 22 year old.

His power slider has excellent bite and can be a strikeout pitch for Martinez

When he’s at his best, Martinez has a fastball that sits in the low-90s, touching 96. His power slider has excellent bite and can be a strikeout pitch for Martinez, and he has a change that made some significant progress this season.

Martinez might not ever be the top of the rotation guy that his raw tools projected when he was originally signed, but he has shown to be a guy who can be an inning eater now that he has worked with coaching to be consistent in his delivery, which has drastically improved his control.
