Philadelphia Phillies
Day One
Round 1, Overall 8 – Adam Haseley, OF, Virginia
Round 2, Overall 45 – Spencer Howard, RHP, Cal Poly
Haseley is a guy who has drawn a ton of buzz this spring as his power has come to join his already present defensive skills in center field and contact skills. He’s been good for the Cavaliers on the mound and in the outfield, but he’ll be just an outfielder at the pro level. Howard is a highly projectable pitcher for a college pick with plenty of work still needed as he’s still raw, but his stuff is very polished, likely pushing promotions along the way.
Day Two
Round 3, Overall 83 – Connor Seabold, RHP, Cal State Fullerton
Round 4, Overall 113 – Jake Scheiner, 3B, Houston
Round 5, Overall 143 – Ethan Lindow, LHP, Georgia HS
Round 6, Overall 173 – Dalton Guthrie, SS, Florida
Round 7, Overall 203 – Nick Maton, SS, Lincoln Land JuCo

Round 9, Overall 263 – Jack Zoellner, 1B, New Mexico
Round 10, Overall 293 – Connor Brogdon, RHP, Lewis-Clark State
Day two picks were highlighted by one of my favorite collegiate players this season, Dalton Guthrie, a smooth fielding shortstop who may only project as a bench infielder, but he’s still fun to watch due to his all-out style. Mozquita was required to go through the draft process after the Phillies initially attempted to sign him as an international free agent.

Round 36, Overall 1073 – Joe Breaux, OF, McCennan JuCo
Round 37, Overall 1103 – Edouard Julian, 2B, Canada HS
Round 38, Overall 1133 – Landon Gray, C, Weatherford JuCo
Round 39, Overall 1163 – D.J. Stewart, 3B, Missouri HS
Round 40, Overall 1193 – Paul Coumoulos, OF, Florida HS
The Phillies targeted primarily college players in the third day, and though they ended up with primarily college players early, they still could have some signability issues. The team did target quite a few JuCo players as well, drafting 7 of them on the third day.
Overall Outlook
The Phillies have been pursuing the high upside, low floor targets the last few years in their rebuild, and this year’s draft seemed to indicate a shift in that to some degree as they drafted plenty of college and JuCo players that should move quickly and have the experience to have higher floors than the more high school focused picks of the last few seasons.
