MESA, AZ - FEBRUARY 26: Eloy Jimenez

Minor league teams are going to hating to see Eloy Jimenez come into town. The Chicago Cubs prospect has once again taken out a stadium light with a home run.

A couple of weeks ago, Chicago Cubs prospect Eloy Jimenez hit a home run right out of The Natural. He belted a home run against during the Carolina League Home Run Derby, shattering a light beyond the left field fence. It was truly an impressive display of power, and one that he may not have replicated again.

Well, as it turns out, we just needed to give Jimenez a couple of weeks. During his round of batting practice prior to the Myrtle Beach Pelicans game against the Down East Wood Ducks, Jimenez took out another light in left field. Understandably, the Wood Ducks were less than amused at the unexpected repair to Grainger Stadium.

No matter how much it may cost to repair the light, and to get that replacement bulb, one has to imagine that the Wood Ducks were somewhat impressed. After all, it is not every day that a player can put a baseball into the light tower. At least, unless one gets to watch Jimenez on a daily basis.

At this point, it would not be surprising if he does it again. After all, Jimenez does possess the type of power that scouts drool over. Thus far, in his 36 games for the Pelicans, Jimenez has a .269/.358/.492 batting line, with seven homers and six doubles. Last season, as a 19 year old playing in South Bend, Jimenez belted 14 homers. As he continues to grow and develop, that power should continue to increase as well.

As his power increases, seeing Eloy Jimenez hit a light tower may not be an uncommon occurrence. As it is, the Chicago Cubs top prospect is starting to become known for his efforts to replicate Roy Hobbs.
