The 2017 Home Run Derby was a great success. A tribute to the perfect venue, a star-studded lineup, and outstanding head-to-head matchups.

MLB’s greatest sluggers put on a show Monday night in the 2017 Home Run Derby. Baseball’s were flying all over Marlins Park as a nice mix of right-handed and left-handed hitters spread the wealth of souvenirs. A sellout crowd bared witness to a total of 195 home runs. Among the 195, four went over 500 feet (all by Aaron Judge), one went off the roof (also Aaron Judge), a

nd a couple even went over that sculpture thing the Marlins have in left-center field. The participants kept the fans on their toes all night long.

Beyond those fortunate enough to acquire a ticket to the derby, MLB saw outstanding results from the viewership audience as well. USA Today authored the impressive ratings. The 2017 Home Run Derby drew nearly 8.7 million viewers, a 55% markup from a year ago. Numbers do not lie, but they often need further explaining. There were a few major contributors to the vast success of Monday’s derby.
