Los Angeles Angels: Mike Trout has a big day on his birthday – again!
Mike Trout hit a big milestone last night for the Los Angeles Angels on his birthday.
Monday evening, Mike Trout celebrated his 26th birthday by providing a boost for the Los Angeles Angels offensively while also eclipsing a major milestone in his career, though it wasn’t enough as the Angels still fell to the Baltimore Orioles 6-2.
Trout went 2-for-4, slapping a lead-off double in the fourth inning to collect his 1,000th career hit. He later added a home run in the sixth inning. This was not a first-time thing for Trout to perform well on his birthday, either. Over his seven-year career, this brings Trout’s slash line on his birthday to .304/.385/.870 with four home runs in six games and 26 plate appearances.

Reaching a birthday allows us as fans to reflect on just how incredibly great Mike Trout has been in his career already. MLB.com has an excellent article with a much deeper dig, but here are some of the highlights:
- At 26, Trout has two MVP awards, which makes him one of just six players who have won multiple MVPs before the completion of his age-26 season. The other five are in the Hall of Fame.
- At 26, to hit 190 home runs and steal 150 bases is an exclusive club – only Trout has ever done it in history.
- At his 26th birthday, Trout has the highest OPS+ of any right-handed hitter in history.
- Before his age-25 season (which is technically this season, as they go by age on June 30), Trout has the most 8-WAR seasons with four. Only Ty Cobb and Alex Rodriguez even have three such seasons, and only 13 total players have multiple 8-WAR seasons before their age-25 season.
