Yadier Molina working to rebuild Puerto Rico
Two Puerto Rico born Major League Baseball stars, Yadier Molina and Jorge Posada, are taking the fight to Hurricane Maria…
In March, the baseball team heralding from Puerto Rico was the feel-good story of the 2017 World Baseball Classic, marching all the way to the title game, led by Yadier Molina, falling just short to the U.S. team. Molina has done more than just lead the national team, always giving back time and money to his home country, which he shows by his actions that he truly loves deep within his core. Molina even missed time at the beginning of the season to spend time in his beloved home, to be honored for such efforts:
Reports from Yahoosports.com state that Hurricane Maria has overwhelmed Puerto Rico, causing a major catastrophe, hovering over the most populated areas. According to The National Weather and Hurricane Service, Maria has flooded these areas with over 37 inches of rain, causing more than 3 million people who live on the island to be without electricity, generating unspeakable damage throughout Puerto Rico as well.

The devastation has been especially tough on Molina, who had lost contact with members of his own family, who reside in Puerto Rico, where the St. Louis Post-Dispatch gives us more details from the All-Star catcher himself:
You’re seeing your people suffer and hurt and you have to think about what you can do, and I can try to raise money. I can try to get supplies to them. I can let people know about them. Obviously, I want to be with them and all the families you hear about. I’m trying to help them any way I can.
Molina, along with his wife, Wanda, created a GoFundMe account, promoting it with the hashtag “#Pray4PR#TeamMolina4PR” drive has already raised more than $21,000, at last reports on Thursday.

There has been an overwhelming response so far, with people joining Molina in efforts to help those in need, including former New York Yankee and four-time World Series champion, Jorge Posada, who has raised over $65,000 thus far, aiming for at least $100,000 before its all said and done, with Molina seeking a goal $1 million in relief support.
