The Los Angeles Dodgers are looking to bring home another World Series title in 2017. That said, is Alex Wood their biggest X-Factor moving forward?

What an amazing season it has been for the Los Angeles Dodgers and their dedicated fan-base. With a little under a week left in the 2017 MLB regular season, the Dodgers have already clinched the NL West and are closing in on earning home-field advantage for the entirety of the 2017 MLB Postseason.

While getting to play the majority of your postseason games at home is a great advantage, it doesn’t necessarily mean that you have a batter chance to win the World Series. Yes, it’s obviously more tough to play on the road, but there have been many big-league teams who’ve seen their championship hopes end thanks to a ball club coming from the Wild-Card round.

That said, I believe there is one player on this current Dodgers’ roster that is ultimate X-factor in the team winning a title next month. No, that person is not Clayton Kershaw, it’s actually another southpaw on their pitching staff – Alex Wood.

More from Los Angeles Dodgers

In case you haven’t noticed, the former 2nd Round pick of the Atlanta Braves is having his best season as a big-leaguer. According to Baseball Reference, Wood currently owns a 15-3 record thanks to his incredible 2.71 ERA.

Not to mention, he has a strikeout to walk ratio of 150-37. Needless to say, the former Georgia Bulldogs baseball player is one of the main reasons why Los Angeles has won 100 games up to this point.

When we start looking at potential World Series winners, especially heading into the end of September, it’s important to note which ball-clubs have enough elite pitching to keep advancing through October. Sure, Clayton Kershaw has been absolute dynamite in the postseason, but even he cannot solely carry the Dodgers to a title by himself.

That’s exactly where Alex Wood comes into the equation for Los Angeles this time around.

If he can continue pitching at the level he did throughout these last six months, then it’s going to be extremely tough for any team to try and win a series against the Dodgers with these two aces on the mound.
