More Miami Marlins rumors and details surface of a possible Giancarlo Stanton trade to the San Francisco Giants.

Miami Marlins rumors keep heating up regarding 2017 NL MVP Giancarlo Stanton.

Just days ago, Los Angeles was the likely destination for Stanton, with the Dodgers, but another team out west has risen from the ashes once again.

According to reports, Miami Marlins rumors are gearing up for trade talks with the San Francisco Giants.

It’s been clear from the beginning that the Miami Marlins want to dump all or at the very least most, of Giancarlo Stanton’s massive contract. Check out the full details of this monstrous deal.

  • 2018: $25 million
  • 2019: $26 million
  • 2020: $26 million
  • 2021: $29 million
  • 2022: $29 million
  • 2023: $32 million
  • 2024: $32 million
  • 2025: $32 million
  • 2026: $29 million
  • 2027: $25 million
  • 2028: $25 million team option, $10 million buyout

Yes, you read the fine print correctly. What’s even crazier is the possibility that Stanton could restructure this deal in the future for even more money.

Are the San Francisco Giants offering up too much?

Those three pieces are the future for the San Francisco Giants, even more so than Giancarlo Stanton would be. If both teams pull the trigger, not only would the Giants be giving up their future, but they would be hindering it by absorbing $250 million of Stanton’s contract. It’s not worth it.

Now, others may be to differ, but Giancarlo Stanton has been injury plagued in his young career, with 2017 being the lone exception.

  • 2011 Games Missed: 11 – Right hamstring strain, quadriceps strain
  • 2012 Games Missed: 36 – Right knee injury/abdominal strain
  • 2013 Games Missed: 44 – Right hamstring strain/left shoulder soreness
  • 2014 Games Missed: 17 – HBP/severe facial fracture
  • 2015 Games Missed: 92 – Left-hand fracture
  • 2016 Games Missed: 43 – Left-hand fracture

However, there is much upside to Giancarlo Stanton, who in his first healthy season won the National League MVP, while nearly reaching the 60 home run mark in the process.

Giancarlo Stanton also crushed hardest hit ball in MLB since 2015, check it out.

As much as I believe that Stanton is a once in a lifetime, franchise player, the cons outweigh the pros for the Miami Marlins’ star. And, the long ball is sexy, I’m not going to lie, but is it worth $250 million or more? No way.

Next: Stanton will waive no-trade clause

The Miami Marlins rumors for Giancarlo Stanton are just getting started, with the Los Angeles Dodgers, St. Louis Cardinals, and others in the conversation with the San Francisco Giants. Wherever he lands, you better hope he stays healthy or that $250 million portion of the bill will make your stomach even sicker.
