It’s been a busy offseason for the St. Louis Cardinals, who are just getting started…

With the St. Louis Cardinals front office remaining status quo through the trade deadline in 2017, the offseason heading into 2018 is a polar opposite.

Acquiring Marcell Ozuna displays that John Mozeliak and company are not messing around. In fact, they are ready to make a push for a World Series title next season.

Since November, the transaction wire has been quite active for the St. Louis Cardinals, with many more moves likely to come over the next few weeks. If you lost track of any of the transactions by the Redbirds, here’s a quick refresher:

As always, the squad is looking out for players they even trade away, giving Stephen Piscotty an opportunity to stay close to his heartbroken family.

The St. Louis Cardinals are making all the right moves, Tom Cruise style, with more likely to come. Other Cardinals rumors have surfaced that the Birds are in hot pursuit of both Manny Machado and Josh Donaldson.

The St. Louis Cardinals bullpen needs tightening up, with a few viable options on the trade block or free agency market. Some Cardinals rumors even have some more offensive reinforcements coming with an All-Star closer.

All of this activity shows that John Mozeliak listens to fans and wants to win badly. The reasoning behind him staying pat during the stretch last season was the same.

He honestly believed that the roster of 2017 was good enough to compete.

He was proven wrong and given a dose of humility in the process, showing that in spades by making all the right moves so far in the process.

If the St. Louis Cardinals can do some of the above, they could be a thorn in the side not only for the Chicago Cubs but the Los Angeles Dodgers.
