Eduardo Nunez could be returning to the Bronz, with Yankees rumors buzzing like crazy.

Eduardo Nunez, according to New York Yankees rumors, might find his way back into those infamous pinstripes in 2018.

After leaving the Yankees following the 2013 season, the infielder has developed into one of the most underrated stars in all of MLB.

An All-Star in 2016, Eduardo Nunez resume year in and year out has been worthy of an annual selection for the summer classic.

At the plate over his career, Nunez is as steady as they come — .282/.320/.415. His speed is a dangerous asset, where he snagged a career-high 40 bags two seasons ago.

Nunez has a flashy glove and is vastly underrated at the hot corner. Having the likes of Didi Gregorius on his left would allow his defense to improve drastically.

An injury slowed him down last season with the Boston Red Sox but is a real threat in the top part of the lineup, when healthy

Since leaving the Big Apple, Nunez has bounced around a bit, finding his way in Minnesota, San Francisco, and with the “hated” Boston Red Sox last season.

Even with the addition of Giancarlo Stanton, the New York Yankees do have a few gaping holes that need plugging for 2018 — third base being one of them.

Nunez is a much more cost-effective option than Manny Machado or Todd Frazier, who the Bronx Bombers are pursuing as well.

If the Yankees can land Nunez, secure Lance Lynn (or another solid starting arm), and lock in an actual second baseman, it will be difficult to find any weakness in their roster.

If not, the Yankees will have to rely on unproven young guns, such as Gleyber Torres and Tyler Wade — which is less than ideal.

Eduardo Nunez is, somehow, the hidden gem of the 2018 MLB free agency period. If he stays healthy, the sky is the limit for the free agent third basemen/infielder.

The New York Yankees would be wise to eye Nunez, who will pay dividends to an already loaded roster if these Yankees rumors are true.
