MLB rumors: Yu Darvish narrows it down to six teams
MLB rumors surface that Yu Darvish has narrowed down his potential 2018 destination to six teams.
One of the top arms left on the MLB free agency market, Yu Darvish, is looking for a place to call home for 2018. According to recent MLB rumors, the four-time All-Star has narrowed down his search to six teams.
Yes, we did the math correctly. Yu Darvish himself joined in on the fun, linking these very MLB rumors in a recent tweet, no doubt having a bit of fun in the process. Apparently, there is another team who will join the five others still in the mix. Don’t you love when players themselves add gasoline to the fire?
Our guess is such team hails out west, one he joined at the end of last season. The Los Angeles Dodgers. Apparently, we weren’t the only ones with those thoughts.

Last season, Darvish sputtered out of the gates with the Texas Rangers but found a new life once he was traded to the Dodgers. His overall campaign was subpart to his standards — 10-12 record. 3.86 ERA. 1.16 WHIP. 209/58 strikeout to walk ratio. Granted, the main contributor to those struggles is the fact he’s coming off Tommy John surgery from back in 2014, which lingered all the way through 2016.
The 2017 postseason was also no friend to Darvish, who struggled in the Fall Classic, aiding in the Dodger’s woes against the eventual world champion Houston Astros. He will be out with a vengeance in 2018 and whoever lands him will be glad they did.
However, Darvish will not come cheap, with his estimated value hovering around$117 million and a four-year type deal. Teams such as the Dodgers, Cubs, and Yankees need to pull out their wallets and pay the man his money. With Darvish projected to return to All-Star and Cy Young caliber form, $117 million is a bargain, of sorts.
