Fiona the Hippo captured the attention of of virtually everyone last year. The Cincinnati Reds have plans to honor her next year.

Every team has special promotions to attempt to bring fans to the ballpark, and the Cincinnati Reds are certainly not an exception. Teams honor the past and present in these promotions and giveaways, bringing those players to the forefront. Occasionally, these promotions will have a special significance to the city or the area.

The Reds will have one of those promotions this year. On June 19, when Cincinnati is facing the Detroit Tigers, they will have a promotional bobblehead featuring Fiona the Hippo, who will be turning a year old on that day.

It is a promotion that may well bring a lot of casual fans to the ballpark. After being prematurely born at the Cincinnati Zoo, the hippo gained legions of fans. Her antics, captured on camera, have warmed the hearts of those who have followed the zoo via social media.

Naturally, there are limitations with the bobbleheads. They will be available while supplies last, and only at that specific game. The tickets for the game must be purchased through the special online offer, and the giveaway will be available near Gapper’s Alley. Even then, the bobbleheads will be available until the bottom of the fourth inning, so it will be important to head there as quickly as possible.

The Cincinnati Reds will have a few promotions over the year. However, none of those may be as popular as their bobblehead of Fiona the Hippo.
