The Call to the Pen Podcast is back, and Michael Pallas is here with site experts Benjamin Chase and David Hill to discuss all the hot topics in baseball this week.

The MLB Hall of Fame is always a topic that generates discussion. For every baseball fan, it is a sacred shrine, a place where the true greats of the game are remembered. Everyone has an opinon as to who should be inducted, and that certainly includes those of us here at Call to the Pen. As such, it makes sense that, in the latest installment of the Call to the Pen Podcast, Michael Pallas and the CttP experts will discuss the Baseball Hall of Fame Election.

What’s on tap for the Call to the Pen Podcast:

The Baseball Writers Association of America’s vote for the Hall of Fame came in earlier this week.  In addition to Jack Morris and Alan Trammell, inducted via the Veteran’s Committee, four players were voted in. Chipper Jones and Jim Thome were elected on their first ballot, joined by Trevor Hoffman and Vladimir Guerrero.

In the first return episode of the podcast, we discuss the 2018 class snubs, including Edgar Martinez, who came agonizingly close to finally being inducted. In addition, we discuss why they were snubbed, who’s in next year, and which players deserved to have more than one appearance on the ballot. Also, we discussed some changes to voting process.

Next: Hoffman's response to HoF induction

The Call to the Pen Podcast will be back next week with more, as we look to turn this into a weekly feature for the site. Each new episode will cover the top news of the week, and any hot topics. If you want to be part of the show, make sure to tweet @CalltothePen with your questions. We will get to as many as we can on the air.
