Phillies: Kapler slammed again by Francona for “anti-military” remarks

BOSTON - OCTOBER 8: Gabe Kapler

More fallout from Philadelphia Phillies manager, Gabe Kapler, and his apparent anti-military mindset.

Ironically, around Veterans Day in 2017, the newest addition to the Philadelphia Phillies, Gabe Kapler, was publically called out by Nick Francona for his insensitivity to those who previously served in the United States military. Francona believes he was unjustly fired by the Los Angeles Dodgers, with Kapler as the catalyst for his termination — with the Dodgers expressing “personal differences” as their reasoning behind such actions.

Just when we thought this matter was put to bed, a recent Tweet stirred up Francona’s emotions of the unsettled manner, where he put Kapler on blast, once again. Let’s say he’s still a little upset and rightfully so.

“In related news, the teacher who was caught on video calling Marines “the freakin’ lowest of the low” is eagerly awaiting his invitation from @gabekapler to throw out the first pitch at a @Phillies game.”

Tell us how you feel, Mr. Francona. And, he does, where he was not done expressing his displeasure, in a recent report by the New York Daily News.

“It is extremely difficult to reconcile the statements from MLB officials that they care about veterans while they allowed Gabe Kapler to act with impunity.”

Francona was just getting started, calling out MLB officials for their inconsistency and hypocrisy.

“It is hypocritical that a player can be suspended for making an offensive gesture during the World Series… but when something occurs that is far more deliberate and manipulative, MLB allowed the individuals involved to avoid any consequences whatsoever.”

More from Call to the Pen

Francona penned a letter to MLB nearly one year ago, expressing that the Dodgers organization was discriminating against those with combat experience, even going as far as forcing Francona to take a leave of absence against his will. Instead of being supportive, Francona alleges that Kapler reported false information to Home Base — an organization created to assist combat Veterans. Kapler apparently went as far as accusing Francona of using “hard drugs.”

MLB claims they have investigated the matter, but cannot reveal the results. Cannot, or will not? It’s not like MLB is known for covering things up, right? If so, those involved at the highest level should be held accountable. How Kapler still has a job is beyond me, who is not worthy to take the mantle as the new manager of the Philadelphia Phillies.

More information on this matter needs to be broadcast by the media, instead of keeping it quiet. This sort of behavior and cover up must not be allowed. The truth must be revealed, no matter how hard a pill it would be to swallow.

Keep speaking your mind, Mr. Francona. You bravely fought and protected this wonderful country of ours, earning that right. Hopefully, MLB, the Philadelphia Phillies, and all those with the power do something about this despicable behavior, act quickly and justly.
