Cleveland Indians: Former outfielder Milton Bradley suspected of domestic violence

ARLINGTON, TX - MAY 11: Milton Bradley
ARLINGTON, TX - MAY 11: Milton Bradley

Former Cleveland Indians outfielder Milton Bradley is proving to still be a scumbag, as he is a suspect in yet another domestic violence incident.

Former Cleveland Indians outfielder Milton Bradley was a talented player. He was expected to become a five tool player, an outfielder with immense potential that was expected to be a key part of the Montreal Expos future. As he rapidly climbed through the Expos minor leagues, Bradley showed off that potential, giving hope that he would become a star.

Bradley also showed a temper issue, frequently getting into clashes with umpires during his time in the minors. He was traded from Montreal after a verbal altercation with team owner Jeffrey Loria, one of many clashes with authority. Due to his talent, he was always given another chance, playing for eight teams in his 12 years in the majors. However, injuries, personal problems, and that infamous anger short circuited what should have been a stellar career.

His anger issues continued after his playing days. Bradley was sentenced to 32 months in prison for domestic violence against his first wife, who died of cirrosis of the liver shortly thereafter. Free once again, Bradley has not reformed, as he is a suspect in yet another domestic violence incident, this time allegedly hitting a female during an argument on Saturday.

More from Call to the Pen

Naturally, Bradley was not at his house when the police arrived after the incident. The police investigating have reportedly been attempting to get in contact with Bradley about the incident, but have been unsuccessful at this point. The victim in this case did not require any medical attention.

In a way, this may not be a surprise. Bradley has had a history of violence and anger issues, even taking anger management courses during his baseball career. Given his history, it was a matter of time before those problems reared up once again. However, one could have certainly hoped that his stint in prison would have taught him a different way to handle his anger.

Instead, should these allegations prove to be true, Bradley will have proven to still be the same scumbag we all know and loathe. Nothing has changed over the years. He has still not learned to control himself. And, again, he will be paying the price for those actions. Bradley could have been a star, but he just did not have the mentality to handle it.
