The vast majority of New York Yankees players are predicting their hated “rivals” to win Super Bowl LII, with a few notable exceptions.

Super Bowl LII is nearly upon us, with the New England Patriots the favorites to defeat the Philadelphia Eagles — just ask members of the New York Yankees. It’s nice to see the Bronx Bombers put away their hatred for the biggest game of the year, predicting the outcome with their heads and allowing their hearts to cloud their judgment.

MLB.com New York Yankees long-time beat writer Bryan Hoch has the inside scoop, with predictions for the Super Bowl by prominent Yankees players.

  • Giancarlo Stanton: Patriots 28, Eagles 23
  • Aaron Judge: Patriots 28, Eagles 24
  • Gary Sanchez: Patriots 31, Eagles 28
  • Tyler Austin: Eagles 34, Patriots 31
  • Luis Cessa: Patriots 28, Eagles 24
  • Clint Frazier: Patriots 28, Eagles 14
  • Kyle Higashioka: Patriots 27, Eagles 24
  • Luis Severino: Eagles 35, Patriots 30
  • Chasen Shreve: Patriots 31, Eagles 24
  • Gleyber Torres: Patriots 31, Eagles 14
  • Adam Warren: Patriots 27, Eagles 17
  • Miguel Andujar: Eagles 24, Patriots 21

Nine out twelve participants chose the New England Patriots. However, New York Yankees’ Manager Aaron Boone is going against the grain, backing his childhood team, the Philadelphia Eagles.

"“Foles is playing well, and if he continues to play the way he is, I think it’s a better roster — frankly — than the Patriots… I guess it sounds like ‘shock the world,’ but I don’t think it would be that shocking.”"

Comparing both team’s records (15-3 including the postseason) you would think it’s a coin flip, but the New England Patriots are the heavy favorites to win Super Bowl LII. Plus, the Philadelphia Eagles will be without their star Quarterback Carson Wentz — who went down with a season-ending injury against the Los Angeles Rams late in the season.

Nick Foles is a suitable replacement, but he’s no Carson Wentz. If he were 100 % healthy and suited up, the Eagles would be the heavy favorites.

Even without Wentz, expect a back and forth contest, but like the New York Yankees, we feel the Patriots will take this one down.

Even though the Super Bowl is always loads of fun, with “Mr. Everything” Justin Timberlake leading the Halftime Show, we can’t help but think of April, when baseball returns. Thanks to the NFL for holding us over until America’s pastime returns this Spring.
