MLB rumors: Milwaukee Brewers in hot pursuit of Chris Archer, Yu Darvish
MLB rumors are buzzing that the Milwaukee Brewers are pursuing pitchers Chris Archer and Yu Darvish.
The Milwaukee Brewers are not messing around this MLB offseason, making a tremendous push in their attempts at dethroning the Chicago Cubs in 2018. With the recent additions of outfielders, Christian Yelich and Lorenzo Cain, the Brew Crew now turn their sights to bolstering their starting rotation — according to recent MLB rumors.
Chris Archer is a prime candidate for the Brewers, one they’ve been pursuing according to Ken Rosenthal. However, their lack of Farm System depth is not to the Tampa Bay Rays liking. Rosenthal calls this deal “unlikely” to happen, with that very asking price way above the Brewers “budget” in trading options.
The Brewers may turn to the free agency market, with ace pitcher Yu Darvish ripe for the taking. This option makes more logical sense for the Brewers, where they would have to open up the pocketbook and not have to worry about reaching into their Minor League system.
According to John Heyman of FanRagSports.com, the Brewers have made an offer to the four-time All-Star, with Darvish that missing link in a roster that is now fully-loaded. Heyman also stated that the Brewers are:
Prepared to pounce on one of the other top free-agent starters should Darvish land a deal that is beyond its comfort zone.

One reason that Darvish may be holding out on signing with a team is that he’s hoping the Los Angeles Dodgers will resign him. However, the Dodgers are attempting to stay below their $197 million luxury tax threshold, which may be good news for Brewers.
Jake Arrieta, Alex Cobb, and Lance Lynn are also on the radar for the Milwaukee squad, but their preference is in landing either Chris Archer or Yu Darvish. Either way, the Brewers are all in, looking to become the big kids on the National League Central block.
Other MLB rumors have surfaced that Brewers General Manager David Stearns that they are remaining status quo from here on out, but that statement may be a smokescreen, fogging their true intentions. What is known, that in order to achieve such goal, they need to land one or more of these MLB starting pitchers. If these MLB rumors come to fruition, the Milwaukee Brewers may not only be the team to beat in the NL Central but the entire National League.

Even without adding Yu Darvish or Chris Archer, the Brewers will be a force to be reckoned with this 2018 season.
