New York Yankees make Russell Wilson’s lifelong dream come true
The New York Yankees acquire Russell Wilson in a trade with the Texas Rangers. Yes, THAT Russell Wilson.
If the blockbuster trade for Giancarlo Stanton wasn’t enough, the New York Yankees have acquired another superstar — Russell Wilson. Yes, the same Russell Wilson who led the Seattle Seahawks to the promised land in 2014, winning Super Bowl XLVIII.
What’s the deal with this trade, anyway? Wilson hasn’t donned his baseball cleats in several years; so is this some gimmick? Is this another Tim Tebow-like circus we’ll have to endure this coming MLB season?
Actually, no. The Yankees are embracing their inner Walt Disney, making Wilson’s lifelong dream of becoming a Yankee come true.
“While I embrace the chance to be a New York Yankee, I will forever be grateful to be a part of a world-classs organization like the Texas Rangers.”
Another Yankees fan expressed his excitement on Twitter, photoshopping Wilson into an image with current Yankees players.
During the NFL offseason, Wilson plans on working out with the Yankees organization, fulfilling his childhood aspirations of playing for the best franchise in MLB history.

Some may look at this as some sideshow or a cash grab, but it’s honestly none of those things. It’s an opportunity to play for the freaking New York Yankees. It doesn’t matter if you’re Tom Brady, Russell Wilson, or the guy next door; if you have a chance to don those classic pinstripes, you jump on it.
For those of you Seahawks fans worrying about Wilson staying in MLB, you have nothing to sweat. During his short tenure playing minor league baseball, Wilsons career batting average is a very Michael Jordan-esque .228.
This adventure will give Wilson a chance to clear his head and take a break after a disappointing 2017 campaign for the Seahawks — one where he nearly single-handedly willed them into the postseason.

Have the time of your life with the New York Yankees, Mr. Wilson. You have a rare opportunity that most of us would give up a limb or our first born child to obtain. Have fun on the baseball diamond, and we’ll see you again this Fall during the 2018-19 NFL season.
