Chicago Cubs: Yu Darvish’s goal is beating the Los Angeles Dodgers
The latest addition to the Chicago Cubs, Yu Darvish, has just one goal for the 2018 MLB season; to beat the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Beat LA! Beat LA! Beat LA! A chant that was echoing through the iconic Boston Garden in the 1980s, when the Los Angeles Lakers and Boston Celtics rivalry was at its peak. Chicago Cubs newest member Yu Darvish would have fit in perfectly with the Celtics, where he’s currently sporting a beat LA mentality of his own for the 2018 MLB season.
Josh Frydman of WGN news Chicago revealed that Yu Darvish’s primary goal is to strictly, to beat LA.
Those aspirations for Darvish aren’t surprising, but, for him to achieve such goal, he must improve in big game situations. MLB fans on Twitter agreed, hitting Darvish with a few cheap shots — granted they hit the mark of being right.
Here’s another tweet, for good measure.
Dodgers’ fan is more than happy to see Darvish head to the Windy City, and who can blame them? Game’s 3 and 7 of the 2017 World Series ended with two Dodger losses, wins that would have swung the series in their favor. In those games, Darvish was flat out awful. In Game 3, he allowed four runs in less than two innings pitched, in a 5-3 loss to the Houston Astros
The rubber match was worse, where Darvish dished up nearly an identical stat line giving up five runs ( four earned) in the same 1.2 innings logged. You can say he single-handily cost the Dodgers their first World Series title since 1988.
Many would claim the Cubs are the frontrunners after this signing, but the Milwaukee Brewers and St. Louis Cardinals may have much to say on the matter. Both teams are hungry and ready to dethrone on the NL Central champs.
Next: What does Yu Darvish signing mean for Lance Lynn?
For Yu Darvish and the Chicago Cubs to beat LA, he must return to his form of old. Honestly, Darvish and the Cubbies need to focus on beating the Brewers and the Cardinals, or they won’t have a shot at the Dodgers — two teams who are coming hard and want a piece of the Cubs. Good luck Mr. Darvish, you’re going to need it!
