Toronto Blue Jays Troy Tulowitzki has interesting photo shoot
Chances are, if one is a photographer for a baseball card company, they would know a bit about the players they are photographing. Unless, that player happens to be Toronto Blue Jays shortstop Troy Tulowitzki.
Baseball cards can have some interesting variations. Player names can be misspelled, they can be given the wrong position, and other errors can take place. That holds true with the pictures, with reversed negatives, the wrong player photo being used, or such instances as Billy Ripken‘s infamous 1989 Fleer card. However, most of those errors were a part of a bygone time, when proofreading was more difficult to come by and information about every player not as readily available.
At least, one would expect the photographers to know something of the players these days. That was not the case with Toronto Blue Jays shortstop Troy Tulowitzki, who managed to convince a photographer that he was a pitcher. In unrelated news, Tulowitzki was put on the disabled list with a strained forearm after the photography session.

One can understand the confusion. After all, there have been plenty of other players named Tulowitzki in professional baseball. Wait…that’s not right. Well, it’s not like he’s a 12 year veteran with multiple All Star appearances and two Gold Gloves. No, that’s not it either. What about that one appearance on the mound? Nope, never happened either. Tulowitzki has been a shortstop straight through, including his time in the minors.
It’s Spring Training. It is a time when players eventually get bored, and try to find ways to entertain themselves. Photo Day is one of those times, with some truly entertaining pictures and hijinks. The same can happen with baseball cards, and those photographs.
But there is a difference between having fun and not knowing who a player is, especially one as decorated as Tulowitzki. While he has not been on the field for a while, and one can forget that he is still an active player, baseball fans should be able to recognize the name.
