Texas Rangers: What to expect from Nomar Mazara in 2018
Nomar Mazara is entering his third season in the majors. The 22-year-old has been making an impact since his arrival in the majors back in 2016. Mazara is not yet in his prime, and he’s making the Texas Rangers organization prouder and prouder to have him.
Last season, Nomar Mazara‘s performance was outstanding. He put remarkable statistical numbers. The Texas Rangers liked what they saw from Mazara. His increase in RBI’s from 64 in 2016 to 101 last season is impressive.
However, while he played well overall, he did have a weakness. His weakness was striking out. He struck out 127 times last season. Strikeouts were a problem for the entire club. Mazara was one of eight players to strike out 100 or more times.

This season, we can expect to pick up where he left off and continued to display his unique and powerful hitting ability. Obviously, one of our most significant expectations is also for him to find a way to decrease his strikeouts.
Mazara is one of the clubs brightest and youngest players. It’s understandable for a player that’s not yet in his prime to have a hiccup or two in their playing abilities. It’s part of the learning process, and the same thing for other young talents such as Rougned Odor, Willie Calhoun, and Joey Gallo.
Mazara is looked upon as part of the future of the Rangers organization. Recently, he’s been regarded as perhaps the next Albert Pujols. Truth be told, it’s still perhaps early to make comparisons regarding Mazara.
Furthermore, it’s only an opinion. It’s best to say, “Mazara is Mazara simply. That’s it.”

Our most crucial expectation for Mazara to just be himself and step on the field motivated, focused, and most importantly, confident. So far he’s doing well this spring training, and if he continues, his confidence and motivation will increase, which will mean he’ll be well-focused.
