The exodus from the Miami Marlins has continued, as Miami Marlins superfan Marlins Man is in need of a new team.

One had to expect that somehow, someway, the problems between the Miami Marlins and their superfan Marlins Man would be rectified. Eventually, the two sides would come to a compromise, with Marlins Man back in his familiar seat and continuing to sport his Marlins jersey everywhere he ends up.

Instead, that proved not to be the case. For the first time since the franchise began in 1993, he will not be behind home plate, his offer for a three year season ticket deal rejected. Now, with Derek Jeter firmly refusing to meet in the middle, Marlins Man is just a man in need of a team. However, there may be a way for the game to capitalize upon one of the oddest free agent cases in the game, as Marlins Man himself seemed interested in the idea of going on tour to secure his next baseball home.

For a sport that is looking to find ways to appeal to the casual fan, such a reality show may work. We get to follow the new Blank Man as he travels the country, going to games in every city as he looks for his new franchise. Each team receives a great deal of publicity with the tour heading to their ballpark, with fans getting to see some of the things each park has to offer.

This could also work for Major League Baseball to market some of its stars. Some of the bigger names in the game could take a bit of time to meet their franchise’s potential new superfan, giving fans a glimpse as to their personalities. There is a great deal of potential here, especially if the former Marlins Man agrees to such an idea.

Obviously, there would be interesting subplots. The Marlins could look to bring their superfan back into the fold, although they would have to compete with 29 other teams. And let us not forget the rude reception he received in Cleveland, with the Indians potentially having to make up for his last time there.

The Miami Marlins loss could be Majro League Baseball’s gain. A Marlins Man reality show would be fascinating to watch.
