Threat assessment:

Even though the red pinstripes have played four games, there are interesting possibilities worth noting in this small sample size. Of course, the batting order will change due to rest, analytics and slumping.

Leading off, Hernandez is making it difficult for Kapler to keep his bat on the bench. The second sacker sees a lot of pitches and is continuing his dependability from 2017’s end.

Statistically, players in the two and four holes bat with the most men on base; therefore, switch-hitter Santana will slot second more often than not. He’s a run producer with a history of plate discipline: He draws walks and has a low strikeout percentage.

In the third spot, Herrera has the ability to be a .300 hitter and a top-10 candidate for a batting title, but moundsmen would rather pitch to him than Santana or Hoskins. And he appears to have toned down his bat-flipping. Santana or Kapler?

As the cleanup hitter, Hoskins is selective, patient, and a perfect fit to drive in runs because somebody will probably be on base according to the numbers. And pitching around him may not be an option very often.

How long will it be before Kingery bats fifth? Hurlers with a choice of the second baseman by trade or Hoskins won’t be too anxious to face Kingery if he keeps peppering shots through the pitcher’s box.

In the six hole, Franco’s spot had been in jeopardy before spring training before Kingery made the team. That stated, the third sacker had walked twice on Opening Day and singled in the third contest. Game five? His tenure at the hot corner isn’t quite over yet.

To sum up, 2018 is looking like an unpredictable year if the first contests are any indication. So, what is my forecast for the least heard phrase by Phillies regulars? See the ball, hit the ball!
