With the first week of the season in the books, there has been a lot of movement in the second edition of our MLB Power Rankings.

It is easy to overreact to the first week of the season. Preston Tucker looks like a star, and Shohei Ohtani is already on pace to be one of the greatest players ever to play in the majors. The Dodgers are a disappointment, while the Braves and Pirates are playoff contenders. The Marlins don’t look like a complete embarrassment, Jose Urena‘s Opening Day start notwithstanding.

The chaos of the first few weeks can be felt in the MLB power rankings as well. Teams are playing impressively well, leading the fanbases to dream of an unexpected playoff berth. Those early wins, as well as their strong performances on offense and the mound, can skew the rankings somewhat.

As such, there will be a few teams that either drastically fell down the standings, or rose up impressively. Eventually, over time, we will learn whether or not these starts, be it fast or slow, are an accurate reflection for the season. However, for now, all we can do is look at the end result, and perhaps adjust our expectations.

After an entertaining first week of the season, let us take a look at the latest edition of the MLB Power Rankings.
