Standouts

Some questioned whether his defense was going to work long-term at shortstop, but there’s never been a question about Willy Adames’ bat. On Monday, he showed that for Durham against Buffalo, going 4-5 and hitting for the cycle. He scored two runs and drove in 3 runs as the Bulls routed the Bisons 8-1.

The Cardinals system is absolutely stocked with two things – outfielders and upper-level arms. For most, Austin Gomber wasn’t even among the top 5-6 arms in the system, but Monday, he had quite possibly the best game of the season thus far in the minor leagues, going 8 scoreless innings, allowing 6 hits and no walks, striking out 16 baffled hitters.

Tuesday’s Game to Watch
