MLB rumors are heating up that Arizona Diamondbacks left-handed pitcher Patrick Corbi is pushing for a trade to his childhood team, the New York Yankees.

MLB rumors are buzzing that Arizona Diamondbacks rising star-pitcher Patrick Corbin might be donning the infamous New York Yankees pinstripes, even as soon as this season. If you don’t believe me, just ask him.

USA Today caught up with Patrick Corbin after (another) stellar start over the weekend in San Diego, and the Arizona Diamondbacks lefty didn’t hold back his thoughts of wanting to become a member of the New York Yankees.

"“It would definitely be great to play there. I grew up a Yankee fan. My whole family are Yankee fans. My mom, my dad, my grandpa, everybody. Really, every generation of my family has been Yankee fans.”"

USA Today also revealed that:

"The Yankees were in deep trade discussions with the Diamondbacks during the winter for Corbin, and are doing everything possible to be under the $197 million luxury tax to hit the free-agent market with full force, and are badly in need of starting pitching."

If you’re an Arizona Diamondbacks fan no doubt you’re yelling: UH OH! On the flipside, New York Yankees faithful are chomping at the bit to add this gem to an already stacked roster.

The rich are only going to get richer – – if these MLB rumors come to fruition. Such is the way of the “Evil Empire” New York Yankees squad.

There’s zero issue with Patrick Corbin speaking his mind and being transparent — a trait often lacking in professional athletes.

However, in this case, it may cause a distraction within the Arizona Diamondbacks locker room, which is less than ideal for the surging NL West first-place team.

One reason the Arizona Diamondbacks find themselves ahead of the favorite Los Angeles Dodgers is the lights-out pitching of Patrick Corbin. Thus far in 2018, he’s 4-0 with a microscopic ERA of 1.89 and an unreal WHIP of 0.89. Yeah, the New York Yankees could use him in their rotation. Stat!

Meanwhile, if Patrick Corbin wants out of Arizona to play for his childhood team the New York Yankees, the Arizona Diamondbacks must make the New York Yankees pay dearly — unlike what they did with Giancarlo Stanton.

Patrick Corbin claims he wants to remain with the Arizona Diamondbacks, but money talks — who becomes an unrestricted free agent in 2019. If he’s going to sign with the New York Yankees, the Arizona Diamondbacks might as well trade him sooner than later in order to get compensated if he chooses to leave.

For the sake of the Arizona Diamondbacks, hopefully, these remarks from Patrick Corbin are only MLB rumors of wishful thinking. Undoubtedly, the New York Yankees smell blood in the water and are looking to snag this CY Young hopeful ASAP.
