New York Mets: Matt Harvey drops expletive after disastrous bullpen outing

NEW YORK, NY - APRIL 14: Pitcher Matt Harvey

Matt Harvey drops expletive after the New York Mets, and his own, disastrous night against the St. Louis Cardinals in Arch City.

Wednesday night at Busch Stadium against the St. Loius Cardinals was a night to forget for the New York Mets, who were embarrassed following a 9-1 loss to the red-hot Redbirds team. However, Matt Harvey made Tuesdays victory a memorable one, for all the wrong reasons, after “talking” with reporters following their game one win against the St. Louis Cardinals.

Matt Harvey gave up the go-ahead run in the process, but his New York Mets teammates bailed him out, winning the first game of the three-game set in extra-innings.

Matt Harvey did not say much following the game, but what he said spoke volumes. Thanks to Anthony DiComo, beat writer for the New York Mets at MLB.com, for this “personal” conversation he had with the recently demoted New York Mets pitcher — who made his debut in the bullpen after being a starter his entire career.

A 0-2 start, an ERA close 6.00 where it was last year, will allow this to happen.

It’s too bad he didn’t capture any video of this exchange, but this is the next best thing.

DiComo takes us through their exchange, and I’ll admit, it’s comical on the surface. After being asked by DiComo and other reporters to comment on his New York Mets bullpen debut, Matt Harvey responded with:

"“No chance. Zero chance. I have nothing to say to you goes… I don’t *expletive* want to.”"

Tell us how you really fell. Wow. It’s no secret that Matt Harvey was (more than) displeased after the New York Mets pulled him from their starting rotation, and evidently, his mindset has not changed since.

Here’s some advice for Matt Harvey, if he’s listening. If you pitch better and are more effective in getting hitters out, you’ll get an opportunity to find your way back into the New York Mets bullpen. It’s that simple.

DiComo says it best in his postgame Tweet response from a critical (surprise, surprise) New York Mets fan.

Ding. Ding. Ding. We have a winner. DiComo is spot on. Matt Harvey is comical and always generates a chuckle out me, but dude needs to grow up. His behavior is childish, and he gets paid too much not to talk to the media.

Be a man, face the media, get a shower, go back to the hotel, and do it all over the next day. It’s not that difficult.

The New York Mets close out their three-game series against the St. Loius Cardinals on the road this afternoon, looking to win the series. If the New York Mets make the call to Matt Harvey in the visitor’s bullpen, he may be missing in action, which may be a good thing with how poorly he’s pitching.
