Today is Star Wars Day, also known as “May the 4th be with you,” a “holiday” for fans of a galaxy far, far away. The worldwide phenomenon continues to grow even a40 years after its inception, even crossing over to MLB; case in point with the New York Yankees — who are celebrating Star Wars night at Yankee Stadium this evening.
The Force is strong with the New York Yankees and their designation of the “Evil Empire,” all but seals their destiny as a Star Wars-themed team, so why not embrace it?
We also know the secret of success for New York Yankees pitcher CC Sabathia. It’s not his natural ability or even the hours and hours of hard work he’s logged in his entire life.
CC Sabathia is strong with the Force, like his father before him, where he’s been hooked since his first viewing of Star Wars a long, long time ago. In a recent interview with StarWars.com and Coffee With Kenobi’s Dan Zehr, the veteran New York Yankees pitcher revealed that he is indeed Force-Sensitive — being a huge Star Wars fan himself.
“My earliest Star Wars memory, I think, is my dad taking me to see the first one. And, I just remember walking in, being mesmerized by, like, what I was seeing on the screen and just being locked in. He was such a big Star Wars fan that it kind of made me one immediately.”

He’s taken Master Yoda’s advice, passing on what he’s learned to the young Padawan’s within his household. His younglings are strong with the Force as well, with CC Sabathia sharing that special bond with his children.
On the baseball diamond over the years, CC Sabathia’s stellar career is one that only the Force can explain. Even at the age of 37, the veteran MLB pitcher is approaching 300 career wins — and with the Force as his guide will have a shot at obtaining such feat.
Back when CC Sabathia played in the National League, he could sure mash. He’s hit 11 career home runs, driven in 53, and boasts a respectable (for a pitcher) batting average of .212.
