On April 23, 2022, Miguel Cabrera became the 33rd player in baseball history to join the 3000 hit club. Let us look back at that elite fraternity.

There are certain numbers that capture the imagination. Throughout baseball history, the 3000 hit club has been one of those. It is a total that honors not only a player’s longevity, but also their impressive ability in the batter’s box. It is a number that is reserved for only a select few players, a number that immortals like Ted Williams, Babe Ruth, and Lou Gehrig were unable to reach.

With his single into right field off of Colorado Rockies pitcher Antonio Senzatela, Miguel Cabrera became the 32nd member of this illustrious club. The days are getting short for Cabrera’s career, and he is not going to be winning the Triple Crown any longer, he is still capable of putting together the occasional highlight worthy moment.

In celebrating Cabrera’s accomplishment, we cannot truly understand the magnitude of his milestone without looking at those other players who came before. The players whose names echo throughout the history of the game, either in infamy or in reverence. Cabrera joins a fraternity whose members have quite a varied legacy.

Let us take a trip back through baseball history and look at those players who comprise the 3000 hit club, beginning in the earliest days of the game through modern times.
