The Boston Red Sox salvaged one game against the Yankees, Brian Dozier and Freddie Freeman had perfect nights at the plate, and more in today’s Relief Roundup!

At Call to the Pen, we want to ensure every MLB team is getting coverage, and that you’re well-informed as the reader! As part of that, we will be including a new daily piece into our collection each morning with all of the night’s scores at every level of the majors and minors, along with a bit of history/birthdays at the very end.

Without further adieu, let’s begin!

MLB Scores

Philadelphia Phillies 6, San Francisco Giants 3 in Philadelphia – Carlos Santana continued beating around the ball, and Vince Velasquez bounced back from some early struggles to strike out 12 Giants in the Phillies win.

Baltimore Orioles 11, Kansas City Royals 6 in Baltimore – Kansas City scored 4 runs in the top of the 1st inning, and the Orioles scored in the bottom of the 1st. After the Royals added 2 more in the 2nd, the Orioles bullpen shut things down, while the offense began chipping away, scoring in four different innings after the 2nd inning.

Seattle Mariners 9, Toronto Blue Jays 3 in Toronto – The Mariners put up 4 runs in the first inning and kept up plenty of scoring afterward and Mike Leake tossed a solid game to shut down the Blue Jays.

Atlanta Braves 9, Miami Marlins 2 in Miami – The Braves offense exploded for 7 runs in the 6th inning behind a Freddie Freeman home run and an Ozzie Albies grand slam.

Boston Red Sox 5, New York Yankees 4 in New York – Boston salvaged the final game of their set with the Yankees, though it wasn’t easy. The Red Sox jumped on CC Sabathia for 4 runs in 5 innings, but the Yankees struck back for 4 runs in the 7th inning before the Red Sox scored one in the top of the 8th inning and locked it down from there.

Milwaukee Brewers 5, Colorado Rockies 2 in Colorado – The Brewers scored 3 in the top of the 5th to score the victory over the Rockies in Colorado.

Washington Nationals 2, Arizona Diamondbacks 1, 11 innings in Arizona – It took 11 innings, but the Nationals finally got the road win they needed against a high-quality opponent after Tanner Roark and Zack Greinke were both brilliant.

St. Louis Cardinals , San Diego Padres in San Diego – Miles Mikolas dominated the Padres lineup to move to 5-0 on the season as Tommy Pham hit a home run to lead the Cardinals on the road.

Los Angeles Angels 7, Minnesota Twins 4 in Los Angeles – Brian Dozier went 4-4, but his efforts were for naught as Shohei Ohtani homered and doubled to help push the Angels to a home victory over the “hot” Twins.

Cincinnati Reds 4, Los Angeles Dodgers 1 in Los Angeles – Walker Buehler had an excellent start, striking out 8 Reds over 6 innings but the offense could not back him at all after a first inning run.

Standouts

Brian Dozier of the Minnesota Twins and Freddie Freeman of the Atlanta Braves each had perfect days on Thursday. Dozier went 4-4 with a run and 3 RBI, pounding out a double and a home run. Freeman went 5-5 with a run and 2 RBI with a home run.

The game went extra innings, and he didn’t factor in the decision, but Zack Grenke spun an excellent game for the Arizona Diamondbacks on Thursday, going 7 innings, allowing a run on 4 hits and no walks, striking out 6.
