The Baltimore Orioles offense goes off, Yankees Giancarlo Stanton is perfect, and more in today’s Relief Roundup!
At Call to the Pen, we want to ensure every MLB team is getting coverage, and that you’re well-informed as the reader! As part of that, we will be including a new daily piece into our collection each morning with all of the night’s scores at every level of the majors and minors, along with a bit of history/birthdays at the very end.
Without further adieu, let’s begin!
MLB Scores
Los Angeles Angels 2, Minnesota Twins 1 in Los Angeles – The Angels walked off with a run in the bottom of the 9th in a game pitched by two hard-throwing rookies in Fernando Romero and Shohei Ohtani, who both threw very well for their teams.
New York Yankees 6, Oakland Athletics 2 in New York – The Yankees scored 3 runs in the bottom of the first inning and coasted from that point as Luis Severino struck out 7 over 6 innings.
Baltimore Orioles 17, Tampa Bay Rays 1 in Baltimore – The Orioles scored 11 runs by the end of the 4th inning, and Dylan Bundy pitched a gem to take the home game on Sunday.
Boston Red Sox 5, Toronto Blue Jays 3 in Toronto – The Red Sox scored two in the first and scored three other innings to come home with the series win on Sunday in Toronto.
Atlanta Braves 4, Miami Marlins 3 in Miami – The Marlins made a furious rally at the end of the game to attempt to come back, scoring all 3 runs in the bottom of the 9th, but the Braves were able to escape with the series win and the victory.
Cleveland Indians 11, Kansas City Royals 2 in Cleveland – The Indians had a team effort in putting up 9 runs over the first 4 innings as Corey Kluber was dominant on the mound on Sunday as the Indians had 15 hits and 6 walks on the day.
Detroit Tigers 5, Seattle Mariners 4 in Detroit – The Tigers took more than a game from the Mariners on Sunday as star second baseman Robinson Cano was injured when he was hit by pitch, and will likely miss significant time.
Philadelphia Phillies 4, New York Mets 2 in Philadelphia – New York pitchers were able to match Phillies starter Aaron Nola zero for zero through the 5th inning, in spite of ace starter going out with injury after the first inning, but the Phillies put up 3 runs in the 6th to clinch the game.
San Francisco Giants 5, Pittsburgh Pirates 0 in Pittsburgh – Derek Holland hurled 6 1/3 scoreless innings, and the typically weak-hitting Giants got 5 extra base hits on the game to take the series finale in Pittsburgh.
Houston Astros 6, Texas Rangers 1 in Houston – The Astros and Rangers played to the same score for the second game in a row as Dallas Keuchel threw 7 scoreless innings.
Chicago White Sox 5, Chicago Cubs 3 in Chicago – The Cubs scored two in the bottom of the first, but for the first time this series, the White Sox responded back and took the win with runs in four different innings.
Milwaukee Brewers 7, Colorado Rockies 3 in Colorado – Freddy Peralta made a big splash in his big league debut, striking out 13 over 5 2/3 innings and the Brewers got a pair of home runs to support him to defeat the Rockies.
Cincinnati Reds 5, Los Angeles Dodgers 3 in Los Angeles – The Reds took Sunday’s game behind a second straight quality start from Luis Castillo to take the weekend series from the Dodgers, who continue to struggle, now 8 games under .500.
San Diego Padres 5, St. Louis Cardinals 3 in San Diego – The Cardinals were kept off the board until the 6th inning by Clayton Richard, and Adam Wainwright had some struggles in his return to the rotation, walking 6 over 2 1/3 innings as the Padres picked up the home win.
Washington Nationals 6, Arizona Diamondbacks 4 in Arizona – The Nationals knocked the Diamondbacks out of the best record in the National League with the win on Sunday as they came back in the 8th inning to secure the win after Jeremy Hellickson had another excellent start.
